Now that he's running for Senate,
Seth Moulton claims to be a progressive.

But he can’t run from his record.

Seth Moulton Voted to Thank ICE for “Protecting Our Homeland”

Months after Donald Trump took office in 2025 and masked, untrained ICE agents began terrorizing communities across the country, Seth Moulton voted with Republicans to thank ICE for “protecting the homeland,” even though most Democrats voted no.

At the time, J Street called the resolution, which also condemned antisemitism, ”exactly the kind of resolution you’d expect when MAGA hardliners hijack concerns about antisemitism to push their longstanding anti-immigrant, anti-democracy agenda.”

It’s not the only time Seth Moulton has voted with Republicans to thank the agents of Trump’s deportation agenda for their work: on July 24, 2019, as Trump’s Border Patrol was being widely criticized for holding unaccompanied children and families in migrant border camps under harsh conditions, Seth Moulton was the only Massachusetts congressperson to vote with Republicans for language ‘commending’ Border Patrol agents.

Seth Moulton Opposes Medicare for All

Seth Moulton opposes Medicare for All and has criticized single-payer healthcare as a “socialized government system” that would be “too far left.” A majority of Democrats in Congress support Medicare for All — but not Seth Moulton.

Seth Moulton Criticized the Green New Deal

Seth Moulton initially co-sponsored the Green New Deal, but within months he began criticizing it, calling the legislation “a bunch of socialist programs” and saying “I think that this is another place where the Democratic Party is starting to go astray.”

Seth Moulton Opposed Elizabeth Warren’s Billionaire Tax

After Senator Warren proposed an ‘Ultra-Millionaire tax’ on the country’s wealthiest 75,000 households, Seth Moulton said Warren wanted to "punish the rich" and that the proposal was “un-American.” He also said that the Massachusetts millionaires’ tax ‘instigate[d] class warfare” and that campaigning to tax the rich is “great for Democrats if we want to continue losing.”

During this critical time for our nation, Massachusetts cannot afford a Senator like Seth Moulton who is out of step with Massachusetts values. Molton talks a good talk, but his words don’t match his record.

From his opposition to Medicare for All, to his constant criticism of taxing the rich, Seth Moulton has consistently sided against progressive priorities. When it truly counts, we can’t trust Seth Moulton to do what is right for Massachusetts.

Ed Markey is the Progressive Choice for Massachusetts

  • Senator Ed Markey speaking at a rally to abolish ICE

Ed Markey is the progressive champion in the Senate, with a record of delivering real results for Massachusetts. On the most important issues facing working families, like healthcare, climate, and economic fairness, he's constantly ahead of the curve. We can always trust Ed Markey to put the people of Massachusetts first.

Ed Markey Was Among the First to Support Abolishing ICE

In 2018, Ed Markey called for ICE to be “dismantled and reconstructed,” making him one of only three members of the U.S. Senate at the time to support the outright dismantlement of Trump’s ICE.

In contrast, Seth Moulton said at the time that he didn’t support “willy-nilly” calls to abolish the agency. Moulton said that ICE “does important work for our country” and that “I don’t think that just going out and defunding them is necessarily the right approach.”

Ed Markey Champions Medicare for All

Ed Markey is an original co-sponsor of the Medicare for All Act introduced in 2017 by Senator Bernie Sanders. He’s constantly fighting to expand coverage, lower costs, strengthen public health, and remove barriers — moving toward a system that guarantees affordable, high-quality care for everyone.

In contrast, Seth Moulton opposes Medicare for All and has criticized single-payer healthcare as a “socialized government system” that would be “too far left.

Ed Markey Wrote the Green New Deal

Ed Markey is the leading architect, alongside Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of the Green New Deal, a 10-year mobilization plan to tackle climate change, create millions of union jobs, strengthen the nation’s public infrastructure, prioritize environmental justice, and tackle pollution and climate damage. Markey’s tenacious advocacy for the Green New Deal resulted in the largest ever federal investment to fight climate change and create green jobs, in the Inflation Reduction Act.

In contrast, Seth Moulton called the Green New Deal “a bunch of socialist programs” and said “I think that this is another place where the Democratic Party is starting to go astray.”

Ed Markey Led on Taxing Billionaires

Ed Markey is an original co-sponsor of Elizabeth Warren’s Ultra-Millionaire Tax on fortunes over $50 million, one of just eight Senators to embrace taxing the ultra-wealthy in 2021. Throughout his career, he’s constantly fought for fair tax policy to ensure that the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share.

In contrast, Seth Moulton said Warren wanted to "punish the rich" and that the proposal was “un-American.” Now that he’s running for Senate, he claims he supports taxing billionaires, but his record shows that he’s constantly undercut efforts to tax the ultra-wealthy. Seth Moulton has received more than $3 million in campaign funds from wealthy private equity executives over his career.

Massachusetts voters have a clear choice this September.

To take on Trump and MAGA Republicans in DC, Massachusetts needs a progressive fighter and coalition builder, not a moderate corporate Democrat who would rather pick fights with progressives than stand up to his private equity donors. Seth Moulton is the wrong choice for Massachusetts.

About the Commonwealth Together PAC

The Commonwealth Together PAC was formed by unions representing more than a quarter million Massachusetts workers, along with environmental and progressive leaders across the state, to support Ed Markey's reelection and ensure that Massachusetts voters understand the clear choice they face this September.
